About me

What I should say …

Guhesh Ramanathan completed his PGDM from IIM Bangalore in 1988. He is currently a mentor at both the Nadathur S Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneural Learning (NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore), and at MentorEdge (a CIIE initiative of IIM Ahmedabad), and is on the board of a number of start-up organizations where he guides them on strategy and partnerships. He is also an ISEC Level 2 Certified Coach.

Besides being a professional in the area of management, Guhesh is also a certified Advanced Open Water Diver by PADI Australia with hundreds of dives. He enjoys underwater photography, and is the author of β€˜The Scuba Sutras: Ten Business Lessons from Under the Sea.’ The Scuba Sutras is also a bi-monthly column in Inc! magazine.

vs. What I am!

Advanced Scuba Diver. Start-up specialist. Amateur guitar player. Amatuerer harmonica player. Sucker for two kids who yell “Appa !!!” Sucker for a zillion other kids who scream “Guhesh Uncle !!” Moron who drives safely while others zig-zag. Serial drinker of tea or coffee. Serial drinker of (well, almost) anything hot and brown.

Blues Brothers and Santana lover. Rap hater.

Lover of animals. Bamboo tree house builder for children. Teacher of teenagers and children to love nature (and steal bamboo). Catcher of snakes (well, snake, just one, and a sleepy, scared and tired Russel’s viper at that). Protector of green gardens.

Wearer of slightly torn jeans and tee-shirts. Hater but doer of daily bathing. Haterer but doerer of daily shaving. Stinker. Smoker. Staler. Spy (well, that’s a stretch, but it sounds good). Older than the hills. Younger than a spring-chicken.

Reluctant believer in the ouija board. Hater of cricket. Lover of National Geographic, Animal Planet, the History Channel and (sometimes) HBO.

Believer in Linux and Open Source. Sufferer of Microsoft Office.

Conventionally happily unemployed. Unconventionally unhappily employed with nine or more start-up companies at any time.

Refuser of buying Coke or Pepsi for children. Teacher of skinned-knee tree-and-wall-climbing for children. Fixer of bloody knees and elbows. Encourager of the minus 70 percent school kids. Imitator of dinosaur sounds. Experienced karateka / judoka / kungfuka / taekwondoka / whateverka … with kids. Maker of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee sounds. Hater of shopping. Lover of window shopping. Owner of unused credit card and barely used iPod. Buyer of Suunto dive computer. PC hacker. Laptop ripper. Lover of (some parts of) life. Hater of others. Wanter of change. Wanter of stability. Believer. Disbeliver.

Guhesh Ramanathan. Mixed bag.Β  That’s me.

“Hater of others. Wanter of change.”

Where is your educational qualification, your diplomas and degrees!!
I want to see your marksheets in tabular form right from your CBSE exams.

But dive without check was very nice. I enjoyed reading every bit.

Whoops … forgot to put my educational qualifications and diplomas and degrees into this site. Thanks for reminding me, Viji.

Do you need my Kindergarten scores as well? I remember I came third in my class of three then …. will it count?

Also … should I scan them and put them up? Do I need to get them attested by a court?

      Do let me know! πŸ™‚

And thank you for your comments on Diving without Checking … appreciate it.

Hey Guhesh. Loved your blog. Good writing style. Well, I still remember the day spent in your garage when you used to make amplifiers.
The first audiophile I met. And well I didn’t know such a word existed then πŸ™‚

And thanks a million for letting me take that electric guitar of yours. It started it all πŸ™‚

Just passed my old one to Sundar. Well, was a sucker for new things and Sundar always gets the old one.

Much to amma’s criticism for dropping the violin and picking up the guitar.

    I’m loving it πŸ™‚ !!!

    Cheers,
    Viswesh.

Guhesh, great to connect with you and totally love your “about me ” section. i see myself as lover and hater of many of those things you mentioned.
It made me smile, no solid resume, achievements etc, simple but very effective writing:)
